# City Folding camera movement.
Let the architecture lead.

> Separate the camera move from the bending city. A stable reference helps you judge whether the buildings are folding or the whole shot is simply rotating.

## Which camera movement should a City Folding prompt use?

Begin with a locked camera when you want to isolate the city’s transformation. Describe the near pavement as stable and the distant road and buildings as one connected surface. A slow push-in adds forward motion; a tracking shot adds another continuity problem. These are prompt choices in the City Folding studio, not tested promises about a rendering model.

## Choose the move by what you need to see

| Decision | Locked camera | Slow push-in | Tracking shot |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Main movement | The city bends while the viewpoint stays still | The viewpoint advances as the city bends | The viewpoint follows an original subject or vehicle |
| Reference anchor | Near pavement and fixed street edges | Foreground edges that keep a consistent perspective | The moving subject plus nearby pavement |
| What to inspect | Whether the skyline bends rather than the camera rolls | Whether forward motion masks a disconnected road | Whether the subject changes shape or speed |
| Prompting choice | A useful starting direction for an architectural scene | Use when a gentle approach serves the shot | Use when following motion is essential to the idea |

Change one direction at a time. Comparing a fixed shot with a fixed shot is easier than changing the photo, lighting, camera and fold together. This is a review method, not a success-rate claim.

## Camera clauses you can copy

Untested direction starters. Add one clause to your own source description.

### Keep one camera instruction

- **Locked:** One uninterrupted locked shot at street level. The near pavement stays flat. Only the distant connected road and buildings fold upward and curve overhead; the camera does not roll.
- **Push-in:** A gentle forward camera move along the street. Keep the near road’s perspective coherent as the far city surface bends overhead. No abrupt zoom, camera spin or cut.
- **Tracking:** Track the original foreground vehicle smoothly at a steady distance. Keep it on the flat near road while the connected distant city bends overhead. Preserve the vehicle’s scale and direction.

## Review the viewpoint before the spectacle

1. **Mark the near anchor** Identify a curb, road marking or visible strip of pavement that should remain stable. Use that landmark when comparing frames.
2. **Name the far surface** Say which road and building blocks move together. Avoid a direction that makes each tower rotate independently.
3. **Choose one camera clause** Use the [City Folding prompt studio](https://cityfolding.com/#generate) to choose a locked view or slow push-in. The saved text contains directions; it does not contain or upload the reference image.
4. **Check the whole rendered clip elsewhere** Look for changes in the camera horizon, road connectivity and foreground geometry. A still frame cannot demonstrate continuous movement.

## City Folding shot questions

### Can I combine a push-in, orbit and zoom?

You can write those directions, but several simultaneous camera moves make the intended fold harder to judge. Start with the move that serves your scene and remove conflicting clauses.

### Is camera rotation the same as City Folding?

No. Rotation changes the viewpoint; the City Folding brief asks the distant architecture to change shape while a near reference remains coherent.

### Are these camera prompts already tested?

No. They are editable starters based on the available planning controls. This site has no verified City Folding rendering pipeline or generated video samples.

### Where should I choose the reference photo?

Read the [photo and shot guide](https://cityfolding.com/how-to-make-city-folding-video). A readable near road and clear distant architecture make the intended movement easier to describe.

## What this guide is based on

This independent site reviews a local reference and exports a text prompt. It does not render a City Folding video. The directions below are editorial suggestions, not measured results from an effect model.

The [Pollo City Folding effect page](https://pollo.ai/video-effects/city-folding) establishes the effect label and shows a separate creation interface.
